Politicians Demand HIGHER Temperatures During Fatal Heatwave
This should be classed as manslaughter
As I write, Europe is melting. Many countries have recorded their highest June temperatures ever. People have died because of the excess heat, and because of associated drowning as people seek refuge in something cold. It’s grim.
It’s also London Climate Action Week. And this happened…
Yes, you read that correctly. An event to discuss the problems of extreme heat has been cancelled… because of extreme heat.
The venue does not have air conditioning - much of the UK does not have aircon, because we’ve never relied on it.
The UK is not ready for what’s coming. For what’s already here. I’m sure the same can be said for many other countries.
It gets even worse….
Also in London, the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) conference is being held.
More than 4,000 delegates from 85 countries – ranging from the Conservative leader, Kemi Badenoch, through to US anti-abortion activists and representatives of European far-right parties – are attending this year’s conference.
Dubbed by some as an “anti-woke Davos,” themes being championed from the stage at the Olympia conference centre included libertarian hostility to green economic policies, social conservative causes such as opposition to abortion and also opposition to multiculturalism.
It is being funded by a large number of US fossil fuel interests, as well as major Trump donors and anti-abortion groups.
Speakers include UK Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK puppet Nigel Farage.
Another key speaker has been Chris Wright, a former fossil fuel executive who Trump appointed as energy secretary.
What’s the collective noun for a gathering of these *****?
London is on fire again this week. Temperatures are nudging 40C (104F) and the far right have gathered there to say climate change is a hoax, and everything is fine.
You seriously couldn’t make this up.
The Guardian continues:
Chris Wright, who believes the threat from the climate crisis is exaggerated, predicted that a “change of leadership” in the UK would radically reverse energy policy and align it more with the US.
“Most of the major European countries are well aware of the energy mistake they have made and are trying to understand how they are going to pivot away from it.”
So Let’s Get This Straight….
Right-wing politicians, sweltering, sweating and no doubt smelling foul in their expensive suits, in the middle of an actual fatal heatwave, and record high temperatures, are calling for MORE fossil fuel production, the precise thing that science has proved ADDS HEAT to our atmosphere.
This is tantamount to manslaughter. Seriously. Lock these people up.
The UK media bubble is currently obsessed with one thing - the resignation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
I watched an interview on Sky News yesterday with Tory leader Kemi Badenoch. As the streets around her buckled under the heat, she launched into her funded spiel of how Starmer’s Labour had failed on energy, and how Britain needed to start drilling for more oil and gas immediately.
And the journalist never even challenged her! Because the media, sadly, are largely also inept.
It should be a criminal offence to purposely make a catastrophic situation even worse.
The Guardian completes the picture of a delightful gathering of lovely people:
“Aside from hostility to conventional narratives around the climate crisis, the event has also drawn together thousands of political activists and politicians from across Europe, the US and Australia who are hostile to immigration and multiculturalism.”
Are we going to let these dregs of society ruin the world for the majority?
